Wilmington Biz: Survey Provides Snapshot of Local Health Care Workforce
November 27, 2024
The NC Health Talent Alliance, an initiative of the NC Center on the Workforce for Health in partnership with the NC Chamber Foundation and NC AHEC region, was identified by the NC Institute of Medicine (NCIOM) as a critical partnership to address nursing workforce challenges.
NCIOM’s Task Force on the Future of the Nursing Workforce released a report TIME FOR ACTION: Securing A Strong Nursing Workforce for North Carolina, which is the culmination of a two year study on how to address the urgent needs facing North Carolina’s nursing workforce. The report details eight recommendations for strategic action, including leveraging the NC Health Talent Alliance to drive regional and state action aligning employer and educator needs.
Strategy 3.1
Employers and educators of nurses, in partnership with NC AHEC and the NC Health Talent Alliance, should collaborate to align the demand for nurses with the ability of local institutions to educate nurses. These collaborations should identify shared investments and shared strategies to increase numbers of faculty to support education of nurses and increase graduation rates.
The inclusion of NC Health Talent Alliance in a report of this significance reflects the importance of the collaborative approach to improving regional health workforce outcomes and the urgency of the work underway across the state. NC Health Talent Alliance partners are committed to driving action through the Talent Pipeline Management framework to strengthen North Carolina’s nursing workforce.
