Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Initiative (MAAI)
Medical Assistant Apprentice Initiative (MAAI) is a workforce apprenticeship operated by North Carolina Community Health Center Association in partnership with the community health center trainings sites in the area. The apprenticeship allows the students to obtain 2,000 paid on-the-job training hours and then become a certified clinical medical assistant (CCMA). Those who graduate from this program commit to working at the host site community health center where they completed their apprenticeship. The locations of current community sites in North Carolina are Plymouth, Asheville and surrounding locations, Burgaw, Charlotte, Kinston, Durham, Wilmington, Spruce Pine, and Roxboro.
