myFutureNC Dashboard
myFutureNC is a statewide nonprofit organization focused on educational attainment and is the result of cross-sector collaboration between North Carolina leaders in education, business, and government. Their dashboard tracks statewide and county level progress toward North Carolina’s 2030 goal for 2 million North Carolinians to have a high-quality credential or postsecondary degree.
About the tool
The myFutureNC dashboard shows North Carolina’s progress toward the state’s overall 2030 goal for postsecondary educational attainment, as well as 18 educational performance indicators. These indicators span the education continuum, capturing key transition points for students from NC Pre-K through college completion and into the labor market.
The dashboard highlights four main categories of metrics associated with critical education transition points.
- Academic Readiness
- College & Career Access
- Postsecondary Completion
- Workforce Alignment
Each metric in these categories has a goal, and the dashboard tracks progress toward those goals.
The dashboard includes a profile of each county in North Carolina. The profiles provide attainment metrics and highlight opportunities to strengthen educational outcomes and labor market alignment.
The County Explorer tool visualizes myFutureNC metrics on a map demonstrating regional variance. The tool also highlights relevant education and demographic information for a selected county along with the county’s profile and a link to promising practices associated with that county.
Alignment with health workforce
The county profiles identify areas of labor market alignment and misalignment. Health Science is a major portion of the labor market and is frequently highlighted as an opportunity for growth and alignment in the county data. Further, North Carolina’s ability to advance the educational attainment goal and advance needs of the health workforce are heavily interwoven. Improving educational outcomes will likely strengthen the health workforce.
